MSP Restaurants Help Feed The Needy This Holiday Season
Three times a week, food donations are brought from the airport to Loaves and Fishes' warehouse. From there, the meals are distributed to meal sites and partner meal programs, sent out with street outreach teams to feed homeless communities, or given to a recovery community in need of food donations.

"This new partnership will help Loaves and Fishes continue down its path of strong growth," said Cathy Maes, Loaves and Fishes executive director. "Having access to high quality, donated food, like that which the airport can provide, allows us to not only expand our services, but gives our guests access to food they otherwise wouldn't experience."
Loaves and Fishes is Feeding Minnesota's Hungry
Stacks of shelf-stable goods, like canned tomatoes and bagged cornmeal, lined vast shelves along the walls. Room-sized coolers contained boxes of locally harvested squash and other vegetables. One 1,250-pound cardboard tote of carrots looked like a tiny house.
Revisiting Loaves & Fishes After Hail Storm
In the second week of June (2017), the garden was hit by a devastating hail storm that covered the newly planted garden with a whopping six inches of hail! The miraculous thing is they were able, with the help of many contributors, volunteers and their own sweat equity, plant a second crop that really flourished.

Campaign Provides Farm-to-Table Food to Those in Need
Loaves and Fishes MN and Woodlake Lutheran Church are partnering to build 16 raised beds on the church property (7525 Oliver Ave S, Richfield). On Saturday, May 23rd starting at 9:00am volunteers will be building and filling the 4’x8’ beds in preparation for planting. The produce grown in the garden will be used for free meals prepared and served by Loaves and Fishes. This endeavor is all a part of the Greater Twin Cities United Way 100 Year Celebration.
Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Grant
Loaves and Fishes received a $50,000 grant to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for the 1,900 daily nutritious meals it provides in Minnesota. Loaves and Fishes has worked towards ending hunger in Minnesota for more than 32 years and served more than 420,000 meals in 2014 – up more than 25% from 2013.

Blattner Energy Partners with Loaves and Fishes for Inaugural Event to Meet Homeless Individuals’ Basic Needs
Blattner Energy, a power generation contractor and leading provider of renewable energy construction in North America, partnered with local nonprofit Loaves and Fishes of Minneapolis for an inaugural event in which Blattner Energy employees packed 2,000 basic needs kits to be distributed to homeless individuals throughout the Twin Cities.

The nonprofit group Loaves and Fishes says it served more than 41,000 free meals in June. That's more than any other month in the organization's 32 year history.
Most of the increased demand came from families with children at the organization's at 18 Minnesota locations, according to executive director Cathy Maes. In a typical month 25,000-30,000 meals are consumed.
