It was a full team effort at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Minneapolis last week. The University of Minnesota women’s basketball prepared and served meals along with sock bundles, hygiene kits and snack packs.

Not only was it the biggest volunteer team that Loaves & Fishes brought in since the pandemic started, but women’s basketball was also one of the first Gopher teams to get back into the community this year.

“It feels good to see people’s smiles when they walk up to us,” senior Gadiva Hubbard said during the event. “We are making people’s day and I love that. We don’t know their situations, but we get to provide them with necessities that they need and that really does feel good.”

The sock bundles were donated by Orono Public Schools, the snack packs by The Window Store and hygiene kits by Our Lady of Grace in what was truly a full community effort.
