Press Release:
Minneapolis, MN (December 10, 2019): Loaves and Fishes, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit serving free, nutritious meals at dining sites throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area and Greater Minnesota will offer more than warm and healthy meals on Wednesday, December 11: warm jackets, hats, and gloves. The warm weather clothing will be handed out at Loaves & Fishes’ Holy Rosary dining site at 5:15 PM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2424 18th Ave South in Minneapolis.
Volunteers from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie wanted to do something beyond serving food to help guests at the St. Stephens and Holy Rosary dining sites which serve a predominately homeless population. Realizing that the guests were unprepared for the cold weather, Immanuel volunteers collected over 200 coats to give to the guests. Loaves & Fishes Executive Director Cathy Maes is thankful for this act of generosity. “We are so amazed at this outpouring of love. This distribution for our guests is a blessing.”
About Loaves and Fishes MN:.
Loaves and Fishes serves free, nutritious meals to those in need at locations where the need is greatest. Its meal program began 35 years ago, in 1982, with one dining site each in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Since that time, it has grown to serving about 3,500 meals daily in Minnesota. While the name “Loaves and Fishes” was initially taken from scripture, it is not a religious organization. It is guided by a vision that all people, regardless of socioeconomic, cultural or ethnic background, deserve to meet their basic needs for food, dignity and respect.
