Savage-based RPM Drymate and nonprofit Loaves & Fishes Minnesota, received some national recognition for their efforts to help the homeless. These good deeds caught the attention of Walmart.
Walmart is now airing a commercial highlighting the special partnership between RPM Drymate and Loaves & Fishes. The partnership began when RPM Drymate’s Co-owner Nick Sovell saw a news story about Loaves & Fishes distributing clothing to the homeless.
Sovell said, “…wow, we have waterproof, windproof mats that could literally protect the homeless people.”
RPM Drymate used leftover product to create packable waterproof blankets. Loaves & Fishes handed them out to 250 of their guests.
“I believe that the help that Drymate gave us really did save lives,” said Maes. “It’s like, pay it forward. If you do good things for people, it’s going to circle around and do good things to you.”
RPM Drymate and Loaves & Fishes plan to distribute more waterproof blankets this summer.
