Position Summary

Loaves & Fishes is seeking a dedicated Site Coordinator to play a pivotal role in advancing our mission. This position is essential to the smooth operation of our service and helps ensure we continue providing healthy meals to those in need. As a Site Coordinator, you will lead and inspire both individual volunteers and kitchen teams in various roles, including cooking and serving guests. You will oversee kitchen operations from open to close, maintain positive relationships with the community, and manage volunteers. Additionally, you will implement best management practices, including food safety protocols, to continuously improve the guest experience. We are looking for someone passionate about addressing food insecurity and breaking down barriers to food access in our community. Essential Functions

Mission Ambassador

  • Positively represent Loaves & Fishes, promoting our mission and vision 
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for guests of all backgrounds, treating others with dignity and respect 
  • Work effectively with diverse groups and their needs 
  • Build and maintain relationships with donation partners, serving as the face of L&F 
  • Support and contribute to organizational, team, and individual goals 

Site Coordination

  • Follow best management practices, adhering to all food management policies and guidelines as required by MN Certified Food Protection Manager training 
  • Create and execute site procedures with the Operations Leadership Team, maintaining clean and organized kitchen and storage spaces 
  • Independently or with minimal assistance, conduct all opening procedures, meal planning, preparation, service, and closure procedures 
  • Manage site inventory and report needs to the Central Office Operations Team 

Volunteer Management

  • Develop and train volunteers with support from the Community Engagement Coordinator 
  • Lead volunteer huddles at shift start, organizing and delegating responsibilities 
  • Create a fulfilling volunteer experience and schedule as set by the Community Engagement Coordinator 
  • Follow basic volunteer policies and procedures, ensuring frequent communication for volunteer success 
  • Assist with obtaining and maintaining current volunteer contact information 

Administrative

  • Required Certifications: Food Manager Certification, MN CFPM, and Civil Rights (training, exam platform, and fees provided; one exam and one retake paid in full, additional fees are the employee’s responsibility) 
  • Perform administrative duties, including monitoring emails and submitting paperwork 
  • Collect and report necessary meal count statistics 
  • Review site calendars and data platforms for site coordination 
  • Attend required training and meetings 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Previous experience in management, food service operations, social services, or volunteer coordination/management 
  • Ability to follow direction and make clear decisions in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills 
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities 
  • Computer literacy 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 
  • Preferred but not required: cooking experience and volunteer management experience 
  • Ability to travel frequently between service meal site, the central office, and commissary kitchen as needed to coordinate operations 
  • Access to personal transportation and a valid driver’s license are required

  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; frequent walking, reaching below shoulder/overhead, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, standing, and sitting. 
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 80 pounds, or willingness to repack donations. 
  • The potential for prolonged standing, walking, squatting, and/or bending. 
  • Ability to enter a cold case, cooler, and freezer thereby being subjected to cold temperatures for extended periods. 
  • Work environment of varying temperatures (kitchen/warehouse/office environments) and frequent exposure to outdoor elements during meal service (varies per site).  
  • Work environment also includes hot ovens, slippery floors, and working with knives and other sharp objects.
