Less than a year ago I was relying on food banks to feed myself to survive so I will never forget what it’s like and how a little faith, trust, and patience goes a long way.

Ways to Financially Support Loaves & Fishes

01

The Nourishment Network

By giving a monthly recurring donation to Loaves & Fishes, you will become part of an exclusive community of passionate and like-minded individuals who also care about alleviating food insecurity in Minnesota.

Click the button below to learn more about the Nourishment Network or sign up today.

02

Donor Advised Funds

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle which combines the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support Loaves & Fishes. It allows you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund to Loaves & Fishes over time.

You can contact your financial advisor to set up a DAF, or if you already have an account through Fidelity, Schwab, or BNY Mellon, you can give directly today.

03

Stocks & Bonds

The process of in-kind donations of securities (stocks, bonds, and mutual funds) is straightforward and can offer significant tax benefits. By transferring appreciated securities directly to Loaves & Fishes, you may be eligible for a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the securities and avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciation.

Please contact our Executive Director Michael Tankenoff at mtankenoff@loavesandfishesmn.org for Loaves & Fishes’ account information and further instructions.

04

Legacy Giving

A planned gift is a wonderful way to leave a profound legacy and ensure that the people in your community receive the nourishment they need for years to come. By including Loaves & Fishes in your will or estate plan, you will play an important role in the food security of children, adults, and seniors throughout Minnesota. There are many ways to leave your legacy: bequests through your will or trust, bequests of retirement plan assets, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, gift of life insurance, and more. Please seek the advice of your financial or legal advisor.

05

Workplace Giving

Many companies offer a matching gift program for their employees meaning your donation can be doubled! Ask your employer today if they offer a matching gift program or the opportunity to donate to Loaves & Fishes via payroll deductions.

06

IRA Charitable Rollover

This is a strategic way to lower your taxes on Required Minimum Distributions (RMD’s) from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) while supporting the important work of Loaves & Fishes. Beginning at age 73, you are required to withdraw a certain amount of money from your IRA each year (known as an RMD). These distributions are typically subject to income tax.

07

Fundraise

Hosting an online fundraiser with family, friends or colleagues is a fun and meaningful way to make a difference in our community. Create your own Loaves & Fishes fundraising page and invite others to support your fundraiser. You can even create a team fundraiser to start a friendly competition!

08

Loaves & Fishes Endowment

We established the Loaves & Fishes endowment to assure the long-term sustainability of our work while providing the opportunity to expand our impact through new or existing programs, services, and initiatives. By investing in the future of our programming, we can provide free meals to our community members for many years to come no matter what challenges come our way. If you are interested in contributing to the Loaves & Fishes endowment, please contact our Executive Director Michael Tankenoff at mtankenoff@loavesandfishesmn.org.
