Development Manager 

Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)

Reports to: Director of Advancement 

Status: Full-time, Exempt 

Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000 DOQ

Our mission is to provide healthy meals to Minnesotans in areas where need is greatest. We are guided by our vision that all people – regardless of socioeconomic, cultural, religious, or ethnic background – deserve to meet their basic needs for food, dignity, and respect. We offer a holistic approach to increasing a person’s access to affordable, healthy food through our free meal programs, food sourcing initiatives, and community partnerships. We have served over 4,000,000 free meals for five consecutive years, which demonstrates the ongoing need for free, healthy meals in our community. In 2024, we served over 6.8 million free meals – the largest amount in our organization’s history.  

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Development Manager supports the Director of Advancement in executing Loaves & Fishes’ fundraising strategy. This role focuses on grants management, donor stewardship, corporate partnership support, and event execution. The position is designed as a hands-on execution role that strengthens revenue diversification while working closely with and in support of the Director of Advancement. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Grants Management 

  • Coordinate program and finance inputs for submissions
  • Maintain grant tracking systems and compliance documentation
  • Draft proposals and reports in partnership with Director of Advancement
  • Manage grants calendar, deadlines, and reporting

Donor Stewardship & Individual Giving

  • Support major donor cultivation and stewardship plans
  • Coordinate donor acknowledgments and impact communications 
  • Maintain accurate donor records in CRM 
  • Assist with annual appeals and giving campaigns

Corporate & Community Partnerships

  • Support development of sponsorship proposals and materials 
  • Help steward corporate relationships and track deliverables 
  • Assist in identifying new partnership opportunities

Events & Engagement

  • Support execution of fundraising events (logistics, sponsorship fulfillment, follow-up) 
  • Assist with post-event stewardship and reporting

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 

Education:  High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: Three to five years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or grant writing. Demonstrated experience managing a grants lifecycle and supporting donor engagement efforts required. Must have excellent computer skills with high proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Salary & Benefits: $55,000 – $60,000 DOQ. Competitive benefits package available including 14 days of accumulated Paid Time Off (PTO) in the first year, 9 company holidays, two floating holidays, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and short-term disability insurance. Eligibility for 401(k) retirement plan enrollment after 90 days of employment with 3% employer contribution available.
