Loaves & Fishes is carefully monitoring developments during the COVID-19 outbreak. We will continue working to adjust and respond as needed so we provide nutritious food to those who need it. All meals are currently take-away only. Please call us with questions at 612-377-9810.
Safety Guidelines for Volunteers and Guests
We are committed to the health and safety of our guests, volunteers, donors, and staff, and are working hard to mitigate the potential spread of the virus.
Safety steps include:
Following our best ServSafe practices (national food safety standards)
Asking those who are ill to not attend.
Social distancing for guests and volunteers who do attend the meals.
Refraining from shaking hands or hugging to greet others.
Asking volunteers to bring hand sanitizer when serving food to guests.
Requiring masks on volunteers. Our Mask Policy follows state guidelines: all Loaves and Fishes volunteers are required to wear a mask throughout the entirety of their shift. If you have a mask, please bring it. If not, we will provide one.
Providing gloves, aprons and a hairnet if you don’t bring your own hat.
Volunteer With Us
The secret to Loaves & Fishes’ ability to feed people in need has always been our volunteers. YOU are needed now more than ever as the demand for healthy meals rises. Help Minnesotans Through this Crisis by Making a Donation
The demand for fresh and healthy meals has grown dramatically in light of the pandemic. Switching from a dine-in format to takeaway service brings additional costs. Your gift will allow us to meet the growing demand and provide hope to those in need. Thanks so much for your generosity and for your belief that no one should go hungry.
Minnesota Central Kitchen
Even among the most uncertain of times, there is hope. We are proud to partner with Second Harvest Heartland, ChowGirls Killer Catering, and other restaurants to create the Minnesota Central Kitchen. Through the MealConnect network, our food rescue partners provide the food, Chowgirls uses their kitchen and chefs to cook, and Loaves & Fishes distributes the prepared meals in to-go containers across our 37 dining sites. We are grateful to be in partnership with such caring individuals and organizations who step up in times of need to lend a hand to our community.
More Food in More Locations
We are also partnering with the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities and UnitedHealth Group to offer family-style pans of food that serve 4-6 people each, along with individual bag lunches. Find YMCA distribution locations on our Public Dining page.
